The defending World Series-champion San Francisco Giants are hosting Metallica Night at AT&T Park on Friday. Members of the iconic metal band will be on hand to take part in pre-game festivities, including the National Anthem and the first pitch.
We don’t know if band members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett or Robert Trujillo needed help with pitching mechanics for Friday’s ceremonial first toss, but Giants’ starting pitcher Barry Zito looked like he had a good time playing with Metallica.
Zito grew up in a musical family; his dad was a conductor and arranger for Nat King Cole. The pitcher played the ballad-ish hit ‘Fade To Black’ with the band.
